Men's Bowling Records Two Top Four Finishes in MSC Debut

SMYRNA, Tenn.- The men's bowling team had a very productive weekend of bowling this past weekend. The team played in their first two Mid-South Conference (MSC) events of the weekend, the Greater Nashville Open on Saturday and the Brandon Burns Memorial on Sunday. After the completion of the weekend, the Bulldogs found themselves in one of the top positions in the MSC.

Greater Nashville Open:

The weekend started with the Greater Nashville Open. In the team standings, TWU finished third overall, knocking down 7,676 pins during the event. 

In the team games, the Bulldogs rolled five games over 1,000 to complete that portion of the tournament with 5,236 pins knocked over. In the 12 baker games to end the tournament, the team added 2,440 pins to their score to give them the third-best score in the field. 

Spencer Foutz (1,,131 pins; 5th) and Oliver Lawson (1,109; 9th) gave Tennessee Wesleyan two top ten finishers in the individual scores.

Brandon Burns Memorial:

In the second event of the weekend, the Bulldogs earned a fourth-place finish. The team earned the spot by knocking down 7,359 pins in the Brandon Burns Memorial. 

Four games over 900 pins helped the team accumulate 4,934 pins in the team games, placing them in fourth. TWU held the fourth-place position through the 12 baker games, adding 2,425 pins to get to their overall total. 

Lawson had the highest finish for the team, knocking down 1,059 pins to finish 10th. 

TWU sits with a 14-2 record after the two MSC events, the second-best in the conference.

The team will be back in action on Saturday and Sunday at the Southern Collegiate Classic in Marietta, Ga.
