Men's Golf Finishes Fourth in Spring Debut

NEWNAN, Ga.- The men's golf team returned to the golf course for a tournament for the first time this spring on Monday and Tuesday. The team played in the Spring Skyhawk Invitational held at the Newnan Country Club. The tournament had a total of 54 holes played over three rounds.

 Par 72 - 7033 Yards
Monday:

Through the first two rounds, Josh Loveday was atop the leaderboard, shooting par in round one (72) and two-under par in the second round for a two-stroke lead and a total of 142. Bradley Dunkle shot 148 on the day to finish sixth overall after shooting 75 and 73 on the 7,033 yard course. Jacob Parton was tied for seventh after shooting 75 and 74 through the first two rounds with a total of 149. A two-round total of 152 (77 and 75) placed Joe Britton in a tie for 17th place while JT McKenzie was tied for 33rd after carding a 78 and 80 for a total of 158.

As a team, the Bulldogs finished tied for first place on the team leaderboard. The first round saw them shoot the best team score of 299 while they shot a combined 292 in the second round, giving them a two-round total of 591.

Tuesday:

A tougher day on the course saw some drops in scores, beginning with Loveday's score of 76 which moved him one spot lower on the leaderboard to second place and gave him a three-round total of 218. Dunkle finished 15th overall after shooting 82 for a total score of 230 in three rounds while Britton was tied for 21st with a total of 232 after a round of 80. 

Parton finished the third round with a score of 85 for a total of 234, placing him in 25th place. McKenzie maintained his tie for 33rd with his score of 81 giving him a three-round total of 239.

As a team, Tennessee Wesleyan finished fourth overall in the ten-team field. The team added 319 strokes to their score in the third round to finish with a team total of 910 in three rounds.

TWU will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday as they travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., for the William Carey Invitational at the Canebrake Country Club.
