Men's Golf Competes at Carey Collegiate Classic

HATTIESBURG, Miss.- The men's golf team was back out on the links on Monday and Tuesday. The team traveled to Hattiesburg, Miss., to play in the Carey Collegiate Classic. The tournament consisted of three rounds and was played on the course at the Canebrake Country Club. 

Monday:

After the first and second rounds, the Bulldogs were in eighth place on the team leaderboard. Two identical scores of 293 gave the team a two-round total of 586.

Josh Loveday had the high score on the player leaderboard for the Bulldogs, shooting 73 and 71 in the first two rounds to be in a tie for 22nd place with a score of 144. Scores of 74 and 73, and 75 and 72 for a 147 total put Jacob Parton and Bradley Dunkle in a tie for 38th place.

JT McKenzie hit 72 and 77 to finish with a two-round score of 149, finishing in a 47th-place tie. Joe Britton rounded out the scoreboard for TWU, shooting 74 and 83 to be tied for 70th place.

Tuesday:

Loveday finished the tournament in 26th place after shooting a 74 to give him a 218 for the three rounds. Parton carded a 75 in the third round, moving his total to 222 for a 40th-place tie. McKenzie finished in a tie for 48th place after finishing with a score of 76 for a 225 total. Dunkle was also tied for 48th place with a total score of 225 after shooting 78 in the third round. A score of 80 gave Britton a total of 237 to finish in 74th place.

As a team, the Bulldogs had 303 strokes in the round, giving them a three-round total of 889. The team would finish 11th place on the team scoreboard.

TWU will be back in action on March 25-26 when they play at the Spring Arbor Classic at Keene Trace in Lexington, Ky.
