
Men's Golf Opens Season with Fourth-Place Finish at Coastal GA Fall Invitational
WAVERLY, Ga.- The men's golf team opened the 2024-2025 season with their first tournament of the fall portion of their schedule on Monday and Tuesday. Tennessee Wesleyan played at the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational, a two-day, three-round tournament held at the Sanctuary Cove Golf Course, Waverly, Ga.
Through the first two rounds, the Bulldogs were in ninth place in the 17-team field. TWU shot 302 and 299 in the first two rounds. A tournament-best third-round score of 289 helped the Bulldogs shoot five places up the team leaderboard to fourth place. The team finished the tournament with an 890 score.
In the field of 88 golfers, the Bulldogs saw their five golfers finish in the top 45 of the individual scoreboard.
Dalton Sutton had the top finish on the team, finishing in 19th place after shooting 77, 72, and 73 for a 222 total. Sitting one spot behind was Cody Skipper with a total score of 223 after rounds of 77, 74, and 72 to go along with a 25th place finish by JT McKenzie, who shot 72, 80, and 72 to finish with a total score of 224.
A score of 227 placed Jacob Parton in 41st place. Parton got the total score with rounds of 78, 77, and 72. Josh Loveday carded a 228 with three rounds of 76 in the tournament.
The schedule takes the Bulldogs to Palm Harbor, Fla., for the Invite at Innisbrook on Sept. 23-24.
