
Men's Lacrosee Wins Road and Conference Finale
Athens, Tenn.- The men's lacrosse team went on the road for the final time during the regular season on Thursday. The team traveled to face the Montreat College Cavaliers in the team's final Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) regular season game.
The first quarter was even between the two teams. Montreat scored the first goal of the game. Jackson Lollis scored the next two, one off a Hayden Harmon assist and one off a Jack Driscoll assist. Jaylan Steen made it three straight goals for the Bulldogs, helping the team hold a 3-2 at the end of the first quarter.
Goals by Harmon, Robert Holekamp, and Carson Bowling moved the team ahead 6-2 in the early moments of the second quarter. After a Montreat goal, Bowling, Holekamp, and Steen all scored again, moving the team's lead to 9-3. The opponents scored before the halftime buzzer, making the score 9-4 at the break.
Out of the halftime break, the Cavaliers scored first. Tennessee Wesleyan scored the next four goals. Those goals came from Lollis, Harmon, Steen, and Driscoll. The third quarter ended with TWU leading 13-5.
The fourth quarter played out exactly like the third quarter. Montreat scored the first goal of the quarter. Then the Bulldogs scored the next and final four goals of the game. Bowling, Kennedy Moore, Steen, and Matthew Tullock all scored, giving Tennessee Wesleyan a 17-6 win.
Steen led the team with four goals in the game. Jack Shaw had 10 saves in the net.
The final game of the regular season sees the Bulldogs (7-6, 4-4 AAC) host Columbia College on Saturday. The home game is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
