Men's Lacrosse Falls in Close Contest Against SCAD Savannah

HARDEEVILLE, S.C.- The men's lacrosse team were back on the road for an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game on Friday. The team faced the SCAD Savannah Bees.

After the first quarter, the Bulldogs found themselves down 3-1. The lone goal in the quarter came off the stick of Carson Bowling. The goal initially put the game in a 1-1 tie. By halftime, the score was tied.

The second quarter was dominated by defense as only two goals were scored in the 15-minute timespan. Both goals went towards TWU's score. The first goal was put in the net by Robert Holekamp with 11:59 remaining until the halftime break. The second goal occured over nine minutes later, scored by Matthew Tullock with 2:25 left until the break, sending the game into halftime in a 3-3 tie.

The opponents broke the tie coming out of the break before Hayden Harmon put the game back in a tie with his goal making the score 4-4. SCAD Savannah scored the next two goals, putting the Bulldogs in a 6-4 hole. Tullock scored at the buzzer to make the deficit one goal as the fourth quarter began.

The fourth quarter opened with SCAD Savannah scoring to move their lead out to 7-5. Holekamp got in on the scoring again, bringing Tennessee Wesleyan back within one goal of the tying the game. The opponents scored again before the Bulldogs could even the score but back-to-back goals by Tullock and Harmon put the game in a 8-8 tie with 6:38 remaining. Unfortunately, SCAD Savannah broke the tie, scoring two times in a row to take a 10-8 lead. Kennedy Moore scored for the Bulldogs but the goal needed to extend the game to overtime was not found as the Bees won the contest 10-9.

TWU (1-5, 0-3 AAC) will play their first home game of the season for their next contest. The game is scheduled for Tuesday against Michigan-Dearborn at 3:00 p.m.
