
Men's Lacrosse Falls on Senior Day
ATHENS, Tenn.- It was Senior Day for the men's lacrosse team on Saturday. The team played the No. 2 Webber International University Warriors, falling to the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opponents 18-8.
After the first goal of the game went to Webber International, Carson Bowling, and Kennedy Moore played roles in the next two goals. Bowling scored the first goal on a Moore assist while the roles reversed on the second goal, giving the team a 2-1 lead. Moore gave the Bulldogs the lead back after a Webber International goal, this time off a Hayden Harmon assist. Jack Driscoll broke the third tie of the quarter with his goal, moving the score to 4-3. The opponents scored the next three goals to lead 6-4 at the end of the first quarter.
The momentum stayed with the visitors as they scored the first three goals of the second quarter. Driscoll broke the scoring drought for the Bulldogs with 1:41 remaining until halftime. Webber International scored with seconds to go before halftime, giving them a 10-5 lead at the break.
Out of the halftime break, the opponents scored the opening two goals. Moore got back in on the scoring action, converting a Driscoll pass into a goal to cut the lead in half. The team was not able to pull closer before the end of the third quarter though, going into the fourth quarter trailing 15-6.
TWU was not able to bring the score back in their favor in the fourth quarter as they only scored twice. Harmon scored the first of the two goals while Bowling scored the remaining goal for the Bulldogs to get to the 18-8 final score.
Moore led the offense with three goals. Jack Shaw had 13 saves.
Up next for Tennessee Wesleyan (3-8, 0-5 AAC) is a road trip to face Montreat College on Saturday. The road conference game is set for 1:00 p.m.
