(RV) Men's Soccer Ties Truett McConnell

CLEVELAND, Ga.- The men's soccer team, receiving votes in the latest NAIA poll, went on the road for an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game on Saturday. The team traveled to face the Bers of Truett McConnell University.

The offense between both teams were fairly even in the first half. Tennessee Wesleyan took eight shots in the half compared to seven shots from the Bears. The shots by Dylan Connell, Wynand Wessels, Julien Withrow, Luis Baldivieso, Kuda Nhiwatiwa, and Dave Neijenhuis did not find their way into the back of the goal. The shots taken by Truett McConnell did not find a spot in the net either, sending the game into the halftime break in a 0-0 tie.

In the second half, two goals were scored within 27 seconds of each other. As 59:09 passed in the game, Truett McConnell found a way to sneak a ball into the net, taking a 1-0 advantage over the Bulldogs. Twenty-seven seconds later as 59:36 ticked on the clock, Nhiwatiwa took a pass from Cian Gantley and turned it into the game-tying goal. Neither team scored by the end of regulation, ending forcing the game to end in a 1-1 tie.

Michael Garrihy had three saves in the net.

Tennessee Wesleyan (2-2-3, 2-0-1 AAC) stays on the road for their next AAC contest. The team will drive to Kentucky Christian University on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m., game.
