Men's Soccer Blitz Union to Advance to AAC Championship

BARBOURVILLE, Ky.- The men's soccer team scored five goals in a win that sent them to the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Soccer Championship Game on Tuesday. The win came on the road against the No. 2 seed in the tournament, the Union College Bulldogs.

The team scored four of their five goals in the first half. Two of them occurred in the first four minutes. In the third minute, Kuda Nhiwatiwa scored to give the team a 1-0 lead. A minute later, Grant Barron scored on a Jarimyah Cook assist to make the lead 2-0. The hope of putting the game out of reach continued in the 38th minute. Wynand Wessels scored, making the score 3-0. The fourth goal of the first half occurred four minutes later, a David Tayau goal off a Bada Sady assist, sending the game into halftime with TWU leading 4-0. 

Union scored a goal early in the second half to cut the lead down to three goals. It did not make a difference in the end though as the opponents did not score another goal. Tennessee Wesleyan added another tally to their score in the 86th minute when Cook scored off Dave Neijenhuis' assist. TWU advanced to the championship game via their 5-1 score.

The championship game is set for Saturday and will be played at the home of the No. 1 seed in the tournament, Milligan University. The game is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
