PULASKI, Tenn.- The men's soccer team played their first game of the 2024 season on Thursday. The team went on the road to face the UT Southern Firehawks in a non-conference game.
Through the first 45 minutes of action, neither team scored a goal. TWU had shots by Robin Vezinhet, Logan Thompson, and Zach Blair did not find the back of the net in the first half while the defense kept the opponents out of the net for the scoreless tie at halftime.
The first goal of the game occurred seven minutes into the second half. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, the opponents scored the goal, moving ahead 1-0. The deficit grew deeper later as UT Southern added a second score to their goal. Tennessee Wesleyan was not able to find the matching goals in the remaining time, going on to fall by a final score of 3-0.
Up next for the Bulldogs (0-1) is their home opener against WVU Tech. The team will host the visitors on Friday, Aug 23 at the TWU Athletic Complex at 4:00 p.m.
