ATHENS, Tenn.- The men's soccer team played their home opener on Friday. The team hosted the West Virginia Tech Golden Bears in a non-conference home game at the TWU Athletic Complex.
Offense was not plentiful as the two teams combined for five shots in the first half. None of the five shots went into the net. Zach Blair had the first attempt at the goal, seeing a header shot go wide. Robin Vezinhet also saw his shot in the half go wide. The score was tied 0-0 at the halftime break.
The first offensive chance for the Bulldogs in the second half found the back of the net. Bada Sady assisted Vezinhet in scoring the lone goal of the game. Goalkeeper Leo Summers and the defense defended 12 shots in the second half by the visitors, helping TWU hold on for a 1-0 victory in their home opener.
The schedule gives the Bulldogs (1-1) a little rest before their next game on Friday, Sept. 6. The team will host Montreat College on that date in their Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opener.
