ATHENS, Tenn.- The men's soccer team opened Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play with a 3-3 tie agaist the Montreat College Cavaliers on Friday.
Four of the six goals scored in the game occurred in the first half. Cian Gantley gave the Bulldogs an early lead, scoring the first goal of the game on a free kick eight minutes into the game. Francesco Conti moved the team ahead by two goals at the 14th minute mark, scoring on a Logan Thompson assist to give the team a 2-0 advantage. Unfortunately, by the end of the first half, Montreat scored twice to put the game in a 2-2 tie.
The tie was broken in the 56th minute of the game by the visitors. The search for the equalizer did not occur for the Bulldogs until the 77th minute. Sifiso Ngwenya found Robin Vezinhet for a goal, putting the game in a 3-3 tie the score went on to finish as.
Leo Summers finished with five saves in the net.
