KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- For the second consecutive game, the men's soccer team ended their Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game in a tie. The final score ended in a 0-0 defensive strife against the Johnson University Royals on Wednesday.
Defense was the name of the game in the first half as only three shots were taken between the two teams. Tennessee Wesleyan had two of them. Robin Vezinhet had the first shot of the game, one that ended up being saved by the opposing keeper. Logan Haricombe saw his shot blocked by an opposing defender, moving the game into halftime scoreless.
In the second half, none of the eight shots found the back of the net. Vezinhet saw his second half attempt go wide while David Tayau's was saved. Logan Thompson, Sjoerd Spijkers, and Jake Fisher all had shots near the end of the game that all were stopped by the opposing keeper.
Leo Summers had one save in the net.
TWU (1-1-2, 0-0-2 AAC) will be back at the TWU Athletic Complex on Saturday for an AAC game against Truett McConnell University. The game is set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
