DAYTON, Tenn.- The men's soccer team made the short trip to Dayton to face their rivals on Wednesday. An exciting Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) contest saw the Bulldogs fall 1-0 to the Bryan College Lions.
Tennessee Wesleyan started strong, keeping Bryan's defense on high alert with early shots from Dylan Connell and Khumo Modise. The offensive attempts by the Bulldogs were stopped by the opposing keeper though, including shots by Robin Vezinhet and Modise. Neither team scored in the first half, sending the game into the break in a 0-0 tie.
The game remained tied, looking like it was going to end in a draw until the 83rd minute. Unfortunately for TWU, the goal to break the tie was scored by the opponents. Despite several late-game offensive pushes from Tennessee Wesleyan—including a barrage of shots from Modise, Vezinhet, and Jake Fisher— the team was not able to put the game back in a tie by the final buzzer.
The loss moved the team's record to 4-3-2 overall and 2-2-2 in the conference.
