Men's Soccer Uses Late Goal to Defeat Pikeville

PIKEVILLE, Ky.- The men's soccer team went to the state of Kentucky for an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game on Wednesday. The team defeated the University of Pikeville Bears 3-2. 

Tennessee Wesleyan got on the board quick. In the eighth minute of the game, Logan Thompson took a pass from Robin Vezinhet and converted it into a goal. The game became tied nine minutes later though as Pikeville was able to sneak a ball into the net. The game remained tied 1-1 at halftime.

In the second half, Oliver Brennan put the Bulldogs back up by a goal. Brennan scored the goal four minutes into the second half. Another goal hit the net in the 71st minute. Unfortunately for TWU, it was scored by Pikeville to tie the game 2-2. The game-winning goal occurred in the 82nd minute. Grant Barron scored the goal on Vezinhet's second assist of the game, helping the Bulldogs win the contest 3-2.

Leo Summers had three saves in the game.

The win moved the team's record to 5-4-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the AAC.
