DAYTON, Tenn.- The men's soccer team opened play in the the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship Tournament on Friday. The No. 6 seeded Bulldogs played the No. 3 seed Bryan College Lions in the quarterfinals of the tournament. The final score ended up being 4-2 in favor of the Lions.
Dylan Connell got Tennessee Wesleyan on the board early. In the sixth minute, Connell took a pass from Jake Fisher and snuck it past the opposing keeper to give the Bulldogs an early 1-0 lead. Bryan scored the next three goals of the game, one at the end of halftime and two in the opening segment of the second half, to move ahead 3-1.
Robin Vezinhet brought the team back within one goal in the 73rd minute. The forward scored on Connell's assist as the team looked to tie the score. Before the team could find the equalizing goal, the opponents scored a late goal and held the Bulldogs off to win the game by a 4-2 score.
The team ends the season with a 7-8-2 overall record.
