
Baisden Takes Reins of Men's Soccer Program
ATHENS, Tenn.- A familiar face is returning to the sidelines at Tennessee Wesleyan. This time as head coach of the men's soccer program. David Baisden, a former player and assistant coach, has accepted the offer from Vice President and Director of Athletics Donny Mayfield to be the new leader of the program.
"We are very pleased to bring Dave back to the Tennessee Wesleyan family as our new head men's soccer coach," said Mayfield. "Throughout the coaching search, it became obvious that Dave stood out as someone who was ready to lead and develop a program that could continue the tradition of our men's soccer program."
Basiden comes to Tennessee Wesleyan from the Chattanooga Red Wolves Organization, where he currently serves as the 11v11 Boys Director for the Chattanooga Red Wolves Soccer Club Academy and as an assistant coach for the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC's USL League One Team.
"I'm incredibly happy and honored to take on the role of head coach for Tennessee Wesleyan's men's soccer program," Baisden stated. "As an alum, this opportunity to lead at my alma mater is truly special, and I'm excited for the upcoming season."
After a four-year playing career with the Bulldogs, Baisden moved from the field to the sideline as an assistant coach for TWU. His time at TWU ended when he left to take a graduate assistant position at Carson-Newman University under former Tennessee Wesleyan head coach and Hall of Famer Stephen Lyons. Baisden served in an assistant position at Carson-Newman from 2018-2024, including a promotion to Associate Head Coach before the 2021 season. During his time a Carson-Newman, Baisden was a part of 42 wins and one South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Championship.
Baisden left his position at Carson-Newman in the spring of 2024 to join the women's soccer coaching staff at Lee University as an assistant coach.
Baisden has also served as the head coach for the McMinn United FC U16 and U18 teams and as a coach for the Knoxville Crush Club's U9-U19 boys' and girls' teams.
During his time as a player for TWU, Baisden was named to the All-Appalachian Athletic Conference First Team two times (2016 and 2017) was named a captain his senior season, and was awarded the Stan Harrison Award by the athletic department.
Baisden holds US Soccer Federation F, E, D, C, and B Licenses.
