
No. 2 Men's Tennis Defeat Columbia
ATHENS, Tenn.- The mens tennis team added another conference win to their record on Friday. The second-ranked Bulldogs beat the Columbia College Koalas 7-0.
Agustin Gaia and Maceo Simpson, and Rocco Mariani and Zolio Rios won the No. 1 doubles and No. 3 doubles, respectively, by a score of 6-0. Juan Carlos Garcia and Octavio Volpi won the No. 2 doubles match 6-1 as TWU led 1-0 after the doubles.
To finish the sweep, the Bulldogs saw Garcia win the No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-2, Patricio Gallegos won the No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-4, Chanon Phunsawat took the No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0, Gaia won the No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-2, Simpson won the No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-0 and Yanael Lundqvist finished the No. 6 singles ahead 6-1, 6-1.
Tennessee Wesleyan (5-1, 3-0) will travel for to play a non-conference match against NCAA Division III opponent Emory University on Saturday. the match is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
