Men's Cross Country Takes Team Title at Mountainside Stride

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.- The men's cross country team laced up their running shoes for their second meet of the season on Friday. The team ran at the Mountainside Stride. 

Tennessee Wesleyan had six of the top ten finishers in the 6k race on their way to their second team win. 

Mack Alas finished second overall, finishing .1 seconds behind the winner of the race with a time of 19:38.6. The fifth through eight spots were occupied by Bulldogs runners. Caleb Greene (19:57), Eli Cox (20:05), Zane Marlow (20:14), and Dani Meisen (20:27) held those spots, respectively. Adrian Nelka-Hernandez rounded out the TWU runners in the top ten with a time of 20:34 giving him 10th place. 

A time of 20:57 placed Conner Craig in 14th place while Jack Headrick (21:13) and Stephen Kerley (21:23) finished back-to-back in 17th and 18th place. Braden Huyhn notched a 22nd finish with a time of 21:44 and a time of 23:20 gav Major Frerichs 38th place in the standings. Randy Barnes rounded out the Bulldogs in the field, finishing 40th in a time of 23:30. 

The 28 points the team collected made them the team with the lowest points on the scoreboard to give them the win.

TWU will lace up their racing shoes again on Friday, Sept. 13 for the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Ala.
