Men's Cross Country Finish 13th at NAIA Appalachian Challenge

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- The men's cross country team returned to racing on Friday as the host of the NAIA Appalachian Challenge. The race that is starting to become one of the premier races in the NAIA, was held at Cherokee Park in Knoxville and featured 21 teams and 207 runners. 

Mack Alas finished in 31st place with a time of 25:23. Giving the Bulldogs another finisher in the top 40 was Caleb Greene, who ran a time of 25:37 to finish in 40th place. Eli Cox ran a time of 26:36 to finish in 79th place while Jack Headrick was 104th with a time of 27:16. A time of 27:34 gave Conner Craig 120th place in the race to go along with a 137th place finish by Adrian Nelka-Hernandez in a time of 28:11. Braden Huyhn was the 143rd runner to finish the race, running the course in a time of 28:25. A ime of 28:39 put Stephen Kerley in 149th place.  

Major Frerichs (31:02) and Randy Barnes (31:04) finished back-to-back in the race in 184th and 185th, respectively.  rounded out the Bulldogs in the field, finishing 40th in a time of 23:30. 

As a team, TWU finished with 326 points in the vaulted field, placing them in 13th place.

TWU will lace up their racing shoes again on Friday, Nov. 8 at the AAC Championships. The team will return to Cherokee Park for the race.
