Softball Sees Student-Athletes Win AAC Awards

Waleska, Ga.- The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) announced the end-of-the-year awards for softball on Wednesday. The team had multiple student-athletes take home awards.  

TWU had two players named to the All-Conference Teams.  

Cheyenne Strong was named All-AAC First Team at pitcher. Strong led the conference in earned-run average with a 0.97 ERA. Strong was tied for second in strikeouts with 127 on the season. The senior had 10 wins in 16 starts this season and threw 15 complete games.  

Courtney Sneed was voted to the All-AAC Second Team as an outfielder. Sneed led the team and was fifth in the conference with a .448 batting average. Sneed led the team with 52 hits on the season and had 15 RBIs.  

Emilee Tabor was the team's representative on the AAC Champions of Character Team. To be named to the Champions of Character Team, a player must exhibit the NAIA's Five Core Values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership. 

Earning a spot on the AAC All-Academic Team were Mackenzie Baldwin, Emma Clevinger, Meghan Johnson, Emily Mikkola, Caroline Moore, Destiny Painter, Taylor Penning, Loryn Sherwood, Courtney Sneed, Madison Stott, Tabor, and Gracie Calton. To earn a spot on the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be in at least a sophomore in academic standing and maintain a 3.25 grade-point average.
