Women's Basketball Breaks School Record in AAC Tournament Semifinal Upset Win

KINGSPORT, Tenn.- The women's basketball set a new school record in their upset win over No. 3 seed Reinhardt University on Friday. The team hit 18 three-pointers in the 88-69 win, setting the record for made three-pointers in a game.

Tennessee Wesleyan wasted no time establishing dominance, with Jacelyn Stone making an early defensive impact by securing a steal. Although the Lady Bulldogs missed a few early shots, they quickly found their rhythm when Jaci Powell drained a three-pointer off an assist from Stone to open the scoring. Defensively, Tennessee Wesleyan forced multiple turnovers, limiting Reinhardt's opportunities while capitalizing on fast-break chances. Anna Crowder knocked down a three-pointer, and Talley Lawson followed with another from beyond the arc to give the Bulldogs a commanding 22-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Lady Bulldogs continued their efficient offensive execution in the second quarter, with Abbey Barr hitting a three-pointer to push the lead to double digits. Jalaya Lindsey added another three, assisted by Barr, as Tennessee Wesleyan continued to stretch the gap. Crowder and Powell controlled the boards, preventing second-chance opportunities for Reinhardt. By halftime, TWU had extended their lead to 47-31.

Coming out of halftime, the Lady Bulldogs maintained their aggressive play. Lindsey knocked down another three-pointer off an assist from Stone, and Powell finished a layup in transition to extend the lead to 20 points. Julia Howard added a layup off an assist from Crowder, capping off a dominant third quarter in which Tennessee Wesleyan outscored Reinhardt 27-21. Heading into the fourth quarter, the Lady Bulldogs led 74-52.

With a comfortable lead, the Lady Bulldogs focused on managing the clock and maintaining defensive intensity. Reinhardt attempted a late push, but Crowder and Powell controlled the tempo, making key stops and securing rebounds. The Lady Bulldogs sealed the record on Courtney Farr's three-point basket with 5:48 left, putting an exclamation mark on the dominant victory.

Barr, who was a perfect 5-5 from three-point range, led the team with a career-high 17 points.

TWU (18-12) will play for the championship on Saturday against No. 1 seed, Milligan University. The game is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
