
Women's Lacrosse Falls to Culver-Stockton
CANTON, Mo.- The women's lacrosse team played two games in Missouri. The first game of the out-of-state trip was on Monday against the Culver-Stockton College Panthers. The team battled but fell 16-7.
Tennessee Wesleyan was put in a hole in the first quarter. Culver-Stockton scored the first three goals of the game that gave them a 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The hole grew bigger for the Lady Bulldogs as Culver-Stockton scored the first two goals of the second quarter. Olivia Downey and Kate Buchanan stopped the scoring drought for TWU, netting a goal to make the score 5-1. Unfortunately, the momentum did not stay for the Lady Bulldogs as Culver-Stockton scored four more goals. Olivia Downey scored the final goal of the first half on a Kylie Heinrich assist, making the score 9-3 at the break.
Tennessee Wesleyan scored twice in the third quarter. Jozlyn Long scored the first one while Buchanan scored the other. Culver-Stockton scored four goals though, leading 13-4 heading into the final quarter.
In the final quarter, the Lady Bulldogs were not able to find a way back from the hole as they scored two more times. Downey and Buchanan scored the goals for the team, making the final score 16-7.
Buchanan and Downey each finished with three goals.
TWU (1-3) closes out their time in Missouri on Wednesday against the University of Health and Sciences in St. Louis. The game is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
