
Women's Lacrosse Stung by Lady Wasps
EMORY, Va.- The women's lacrosse team played a non-conference game on Monday. The team fell to the Emory and Henry University Lady Wasps 14-7.
Kylie Heinrich gave the team the first lead of the game, scoring on an Olivia Downey assist. The roles were reversed when Downey gave the team the lead back, scoring on Heinrich's assist to make the score 2-1. The momentum did not stay with the Lady Bulldogs though as Emory ended the quarter scoring the next four goals to lead 5-2.
The deficit grew by a goal in the opening minutes of the second quarter. Downey scored two more times before the end of the quarter, one on Heinrich's second assist and the second on a free-position shot. The two goals made the score 6-3 at halftime.
The difference in the game occurred in the third quarter. Emory outscored TWU 5-1 in the third to move their lead to 11-4. Downey scored the lone goal for the team on a Kate Buchanan assist.
The team was able to score two more times in the game. Jozlyn Long scored and then followed with an assist on Downey's fifth goal of the game.
Rylee Brendlinger finished with 17 saves in the game.
Downey recorded her 100th career point in the game.
TWU (2-7) will be back at home on Wednesday, March 26 for a conference game against Georgetown College. The game is set for 1:00 p.m.
