
Women's Lacrosse Blast Warren Wilson on Senior Day
ATHENS, Tenn.- The women's lacrosse team turned a one-goal deficit into a 22-5 win on Saturday. The team defeated the Warren Wilson College Lady Owls on Senior Day.
Tennessee Wesleyan scored the first three goals of the game. Kylie Heinrich started the scoring and was followed by a goal by Olivia Downey. Hannah O'Daniel pushed the team's lead to 3-0 with 10:15 remaining in the first quarter. Warren Wilson scored the next four goals to lead 4-3 to begin the second quarter.
Seven goals were scored in the second quarter. All of them went toward the Lady Bulldogs' score. Downey scored the first goal off a Camille Crisp assist, tying the game 4-4. Kate Buchanan broke the tie, forcing the final lead change of the game. Heinrich got into the goal again and Stephanie Rocha moved the lead to 7-4. Heinrich scored her second goal of the quarter while Buchanan scored the final two goals of the second quarter to give the team a 10-4 lead at the halftime break.
The goal streak turned to eight and nine straight in the opening minutes of the third quarter. Heinrich scored the eighth straight goal in the opening minutes of the third quarter and assisted Rocha on the ninth consecutive goal, moving the lead to 12-4. After a goal by Warren Wilson, TWU went on to finish the game with 10 unanswered goals. Downey kicked the scoring streak off and Jozlyn Long got in the net on a free-position shot. Downey finished the quarter by scoring the final two goals, making the score 16-4 at the end of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Buchanan scored the first three goals. Heinrich put a ball in the back of the net to give the team 20 goals. The game ended with Olivia Galberaith and Heinrich scoring in the team's 17-goal win.

The schedule sees the Lady Bulldogs (4-8) play their final Appalachian Athletic Conference game of the regular season on Wednesday. The game will be on the road against Truett McConnell University at 3:00 p.m.
