Women's Soccer Wins Fourth Straight Game

Dayton, Tenn.- The women's soccer team played their final road game of the regular season on Wednesday. The team traveled to take Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) rival, the Bryan College Lady Lions.

Tennessee Wesleyan scored early in the contest. After shots by Claudia Lopez del Pino and Maggie Aird were saved by the opposing goalkeeper, Jill De Waal snuck a ball past the Bryan keeper in the fourth minute, giving the team a 1-0 lead. Though the team had shots from Cristina Escrig, Krista Eik Hardardottir, Jamie York, Jordan Smith, and De Waal through the remainder of the half, the team did not find a second goal in the first half. The defense of the Lady Bulldogs did not allow Bryan to take a shot, sending the game into the halftime break with TWU ahead 1-0.

Similar to the first half, the Lady Bulldogs scored early in the second half. Hardardottir scored a goal in the 50th minute to move the team ahead 2-0. The shots kept flying for Tennessee Wesleyan. A third goal for the Lady Bulldogs occurred in the 77th minute. Mackenzie Gillis recorded the goal, making the final score 3-0 at the sound of the last buzzer.

The win moved the team's record to 11-4 overall and 10-2 in the AAC.
