Women's Soccer Falls in AAC Tournament Semifinals

Waleska, Ga.- The women's soccer team returned to the field in Georgia on Wednesday. Their win in the quarterfinals of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship Tournament moved the team to the semifinals. The No. 3 seeded Lady Bulldogs needed to get past the No. 2 seeded Reinhardt University Lady Eagles to advance to the championship game.

A goal in the eighth minute by the Lady Eagles put TWU in an early hole. The team got out of the hole in the 19th minute. Jill De Waal scored on a Maggie Aird assist to tie the game 1-1. The score changed once more in the first half though. Reinhardt was given a penalty kick after a foul in the box, scoring on the kick to take a 2-1 lead into the halftime break.

In the second half, the Lady Bulldogs searched for the game-tying goal. Krista Eik Hardardottir, Jordan Smith, Daantje Klomp, and Jamie York all took shots in an attempt to tie the game. Unfortunately for the team, the shots did not find the net and Reinhardt went on to win the game 2-1.

Laia Roch Font had six saves in the net.

Tennessee Wesleyan ends the season with a 13-5 overall record and 11-2 AAC record. This is the fourth season in the last five seasons the team has won double-digit games and advanced to the semifinals of the AAC Tournament.
