ATHENS, Tenn.- The women's soccer played an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game on Saturday. After being on the road for two games, the team returned to their home field for a game against the Bluefield University Lady Rams.
Some time passed in the game before the first goal of the contest occurred. At the 21:42 mark of the first half, Krista Eik Hardardottir recorded the first goal of the game, scoring on a Maggie Aird assist. Marte Stokseth scored nine minutes later off Annabel Cuthbert's assist to make the score 2-0 with 15 minutes remaining in the first half. Cristina Escrig added one more goal for the team before the break, making the score 3-0 at the halftime intermission.
The pressure of shot attempts by Anna-Lena Strauss, Alexandra Machado, and Madisen Hodges helped the Lady Bulldogs score ten minutes into the second half when Hardardottir connected with the net ten minutes into the half to move the lead to 4-0. Hardardottir completed the hat trick three minutes later, giving the team a five-goal advantage. Fourty-six seconds later, Machado added a goal to move the score to 6-0. The game saw the end score move to 7-0 as Escrig scored on a Cuthbert assist in the 78th minute, giving the team their second shutout in the past two games.

Next up for Tennessee Wesleyan (5-1-1, 4-1 AAC) is another home game on Tuesday. The team will host conference rival Bryan College at the TWU Athletic Complex for a 2:00 p.m., tilt.
