COLUMBIA, S.C.- The women's soccer went on the road looking to add another win to their record on Friday. Looking to prevent the team from accomplishing that feat was the Columbia College Koalas.
TWU took over the first half, not allowing a shot or corner kick to their opponents. The first shot for the Lady Bulldogs was taken by Cristina Escrig, a shot that ended up being saved by the opposing goalkeeper. Jordan Smith and Krista Eik Hardardottir also added shots before the first goal of the game for Tennessee Wesleyan. The goal came in the 31st minute when Jenna Gibson scored to give the team a 1-0 advantage. The team went into halftime with their one-goal advantage.
After shots by Madisen Hodges, Hardardottir, and Alexandra Machado, the team added another goal to their lead. Jamie York scored for the team in the 53rd minute to move the score to 2-0. TWU continued to bring pressure with shots by Anna-Lena Strauss and Hardardottir. In the 79th minute, the pressure turned into a goal when Addison Smith scored on a Hardardottir assist, representing the final goal of the game in the team's 3-0 win.
Laia Roch Font got the win in the goal for the Lady Bulldogs.
Tennessee Wesleyan (7-1-1, 6-1 AAC) will be back in action on Wednesday as they host Brenau University. The game in Athens is set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
