Women's Soccer Win Road Game at Milligan

MILLIGAN, Tenn.- The women's soccer team won their 12th game of the season on Saturday. The win came against the Milligan University Lady Buffaloes, an opponent from the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC).

TWU came out firing in the first half to the tune of 11 shots. Though the Lady Bulldogs dominated the offensive possession, the team was unable to connect with the net. The defense did their part too, keeping Milligan out of the net, and maintaining a scoreless tie at the halftime break.

The scoring missing in the first half appeared in the second half. Seven goals were scored in the second half. Five of them went towards Tennessee Wesleyan's score and were brought forth by five different players. Krista Eik Hardardottir scored the first goal of the game in the 57th minute on a penalty kick. Alexandra Machado scored ten minutes later to move the lead to 2-0. Five minutes later, Milligan scored to cut the lead in half. Maggie Aird moved the team ahead by two goals five minutes after Milligan scored, making the score 3-1. Valerie Koopman made the score 4-1 in the 79th minute. After a second goal by the opponents, Anna-Lena Strauss gave the team a final insurance goal with less than two minutes remaining in the game, making the final score 5-2.

Laia Roch Font had three saves in the win.

Up next for the Lady Bulldogs (12-1-1, 11-1 AAC) is their final road trip of the regular season. The team will travel to face (RV) Reinhardt University in a battle for second place in the AAC, set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
