Smith and Strauss Sweep AAC Weekly Awards

WALESKA, Ga.- The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) announced the winners of the weekly awards for women's soccer on Monday. TWU saw two players take home both awards this week as Addison Smith was named the Defensive Player of the Week and Anna-Lena Strauss was named the Offensive Player of the Week. This is the 10th edition of the weekly award. 

Smith won the defensive honors as the midfielder helped the team go 2-0 on the week while helping the defense hold a Reinhardt offense averaging 2.37 goals a game to just one goal. The Athens, Tenn., native also scored the game-winning goal to help the Lady Bulldogs move into second place in the AAC standings. 

Strauss earned the offensive honors by scoring four goals and assisting two others to finish with 10 points in two wins during the week. The Heusweiler, Germany native scored the game-tying goal in the win against Reinhardt and then went on to compile a hat trick and two assists against St. Andrews University. 

This is the first weekly award for both Smith and Strauss. The next edition of the weekly awards will be announced on Monday, Nov. 6.
