Women's Soccer Shutdowns CIU

ATHENS, Tenn.- The women's soccer team was back in action at the TWU Athletic Complex on Saturday. The team welcomed the Columbia International University Lady Rams for an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) contest.

The three goals the Lady Bulldogs went on to win by were all scored in the first half. Marte Stokseth put TWU on the board in the seventh minute, heading a Valerie Koopman corner kick into the net for a 1-0 lead. In the 12th minute, Krista Eik Hardardottir sent a pass from Rosie Dunkerton into the net, giving the Lady Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage. Stokseth recorded her second goal of the game in the 21st minute, this time creating some space from a defender and blasting a ball into a net to move the score to 3-0.

While the offense continuing firing shots in the second half, neither team found another goal in the game.

Tennessee Wesleyan (6-1-2, 6-0-2 AAC) go on the road for their next game. The team heads to Kentucky for an AAC game against the University of Pikeville on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
