ATHENS, Tenn.- After sharing the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Regular Season Title, the women's soccer team begin the AAC Tournament as the No. 2 seed. TWU faced the No. 7 seed, the Columbia College Koalas, in a quarterfinal game that ended with the Lady Bulldogs winning 3-1.
The first goal of the game was scored by the Koalas, going ahead in the game three minutes into the contest. Krista Eik Hardardottir put the game in a tie in the 30th minute, converting a penalty kick into the team's first goal of the game. The score went into halftime tied 1-1.
Fifty-seven seconds into the second half, Addison Smith put the team ahead on the scoreboard. Smith sent a ball flying from the left side of the opponents 18-yard box that flew over the opposing keepers' outstretched hand to give the team a 2-1 advantage. Marte Stokseth added an insurance goal in the 59th minute, giving the team a 3-1 lead on assists by Hardardottir and Rosie Dunkerton.
The win moves the team record to 13-1-2 overall.
