No. 5 Women's Tennis Takes All Points From Johnson

ATHENS, Tenn.- The fifth-ranked women's tennis team added another win to their record on Thursday. The team defeated the Johnson University Lady Royals on the road 7-0 in conference play.

Even though they only needed to win two of the three, the team won all three doubles matches in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) with identical 6-0 scores. Olivia Alcala and Laia Berne (No. 1 doubles), Mercedes Chasset and Julia Richardet (No. 2 doubles), and Astrid Staksrud and Ivet Prat (No. 3 doubles) gave the team a 1-0 lead with the doubles point.

The path to all seven points saw a 6-3, 6-2 win by Berne in the No. 1 singles match, a 6-0, 6-0 win by Chasset in the No. 2 singles, and a 6-0, 6-2 win by Prat in the No. 3 singles. It was completed with wins by Paula Cigarran (No. 4 singles; 6-3, 6-1), Julieta Beltramino (No. 5 singles; 6-0, 6-1), and Kylee Hockman (No. 6 singles; 6-1, 6-0)

The win moved the Lady Bulldogs record to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the AAC. Up next for the team is a road trip to Columbia College for a conference match beginning at 2:00 p.m.
