No. 6 Women's Tennis Falls to NCAA Division II University of North Georgia

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.- The women's tennis team played a neutral site match against an NCAA Division II opponent on Saturday. The team, ranked No. 6 in the NAIA, played in the inaugural Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase, where they faced the University of North Georgia Nighthawks, the co-host of the event along with Chattanooga Sports. North Georgia is ranked No. 8 in the NCAA Division II ITA rankings.

It was a tough start for the team as they only took one of the doubles matches. Mercedes Chasset and Julia Richardet won the No. 2 doubles match 7-6 [8-6] but North Georgia won the other two to take a 1-0 lead into the singles.

TWU battled in the singles matches. Four of the matches either to go through a tiebreaker or to a deciding third set. Unfortunately, the Lady Bulldogs were not able to pull any of them in their favor, falling 7-0 in the match.

Tennessee Wesleyan (6-3) will be back in action at the Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase on Sunday. They will face another ranked NCAA Division II opponent at 3:00 p.m., Columbus State University.
