No. 6 Women's Tennis Takes Match From Drury

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.- The women's tennis team, ranked No. 6 in the NAIA, returned to Chattanooga to play their third match as a part of the Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase on Sunday. The team faced the Drury University Lady Panthers.

The match was played in the clinch format with the winner being decided as the first team to reach four points.

Wins in the No. 2 doubles match and No. 3 doubles match helped the Lady Bulldogs win the first point. Mercedes Chasset and Julia Richardet won the No. 2 doubles match 7-6 [12-10] while Ivet Prat and Astrid Staksrud won the No. 3 doubles match 6-4.

Tennessee Wesleyan clinched the match with three wins in the singles. Laia Berne won the No. 2 singles 1-6, 6-3, 10-5 while Chasset took the win in the No. 3 singles 6-1, 7-5. Prat made the final score 4-2 with a 6-0, 6-4 win in the No. 4 singles match.

One more match in the Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase is set for the Lady Bulldogs (9-3) on Friday. The team will face Belmont Abbey University, a NCAA Division II opponent, at 4:00 p.m.
