No. 6 Women's Tennis Claws Pikeville

PIKEVILLE, Ky.- The sixth-ranked women's tennis team won their sixth Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game of the season on Thursday. The team defeated the newcomers to the conference, the University of Pikeville Lady Bears 7-0.

The first wins of the match came in the doubles, where TWU won all three matches. Laia Berne and Olivia Alcala won the No. 1 doubles 7-5, Julia Richardet and Mercedes Chasset took the No. 2 doubles match 6-2, and Astrid Staksrud and Ivet Prat won the No. 3 doubles 6-1.

In continuing with their wins, Chasset (No. 3 singles) and Raquel Canadas (No. 5 singles) won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0. Alcala won the No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-4 while Berne won the No. 2 singles 7-5, 7-5. Prat walked away with a 2-6, 6-2, 10-3 win in the No. 4 singles and Staksrud made it seven points for the Lady Bulldogs with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 6 singles.

Tennessee Wesleyan (10-3, 6-0 AAC) will play a home match for the first game since March 3 on Wednesday. The team will host No. 13 Union College at 2:00 p.m.
