No. 6 Women's Tennis Defeat No. 20 SCAD Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga.- The women's tennis team went on the road for the final time in the regular season on Friday. The road to the sixth-ranked squad to the home of the No. 20 SCAD Atlanta Lady Bees for an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) match.

Julia Richardet, Mercedes Chasset, Ivet Prat, and Astrid Staksrud helped the Lady Bulldogs clinch the doubles point. The first two won the No. 2 doubles match 6-2 while the latter two used a score fo 6-4 to win the No. 3 doubles, giving the team a 1-0 lead. 

TWU added five more points on their way to a 6-1 victory. Olivia Alcala won the No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-4 to go along with a 6-7, 6-1, 6-1 win by Laia Berne in the No. 3 singles. Chasset used scores of 6-1 and 6-0 to win the No. 4 singles and Prat was victorious in the No. 5 singles 6-2, 5-7, 6-1. Staksrud ended the day with a 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 win in the No. 6 singles.

The win helped the Lady Bulldogs (13-3, 8-0 AAC) clinch at least a share of the AAC Regular Season Title, the second consecutive season the team has done so. The final match of the regular season for the team is set for Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., against No. 23 Reinhardt University. A win clinches the title outright for the team as well as gives them the No. 1 seed in the AAC Tournament.
