
No. 7 Women's Tennis Outranks Brenau
ATHENS, Tenn.- The women's tennis team went on the road for an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) match on Tuesday. The seventh-ranked Lady Bulldogs won the match against the Brenau University Golden Tigers 7-0.
TWU swept the doubles matches. Astrid Staksrud and Olivia Alcala won the No. 1 doubles 6-3, Ivet Prat and Mercedes Chasset won the No. 2 doubles 6-0, and Julia Richardet and Honoka Tsuji won the No. 3 doubles 6-2.
The remainder of the sweep saw Jenn Maria Gjos win the No. 1 singles 3-6, 6-3, 10-8, Chasset take the No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-0, Prat win the No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-3, Tsuji clinch the No. 4 singles with identical 6-0 scores, Staksrud win the No. 5 singles 6-4, 6-1, and Paula Cigarran won the No. 6 singles by default.
The Lady Bulldogs (7-2, 5-0 AAC) stay on the road for their next match, a non-conference match against NCAA Division II opponent Belmont Abbey College. The match is set for Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
