No. 7 Women's Tennis Takes Six Points from No. 25 Pikeville in Win

ATHENS, Tenn.- After being on the road for three matches in a row, No. 7 women's tennis returned to their home court on Saturday. The team faced the No. 25 University of Pikeville Lady Bears, winning all the points but one in a 6-1 win.

A 6-1 win by Ivet Prat and Mercedes Chasset in the No. 2 doubles and a 6-4 win by Laia Berne and Olivia Alcala in the No. 1 doubles helped the team win the doubles point. Honoka Tsuji and Julia Richardet gave the team all three doubles matches, winning the No. 3 spot 6-4.

The remaining points in the win for the Lady Bulldogs came from Jenn Maria Gjos in No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-3, Berne in the No. 3 singles 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, Chasset in No. 4 singles by a score of 6-2, 6-3, Prat in No. 5 singles 6-0, 7-6 [3] and Tsuji in No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-3.

The win moves the team's record to 8-3 overall and 6-0 in the AAC. The team remains on their home court for a conference match against No. 19 SCAD Atlanta on Sunday. The match is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
