
No. 7 Women's Tennis Wins Senior Day Match Against No. 15 Union Commonewealth
ATHENS, Tenn.- It was Senior Day for the women's tennis team as they played their final home match of the season. The seventh-ranked Lady Bulldogs hosted the No. 15 Union Commonwealth University Lady Bulldogs, winning the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) match 5-2.
Wins in the No. 1 doubles and No. 3 doubles helped TWU take the doubles point. Laia Berne and Olivia Alcala won the No. 1 doubles match 6-2 while Honoka Tsuji and Julia Richardet won the No. 3 doubles 6-4.
Alcala bounced back from a tough first set to win the No. 1 singles match 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 to go along with a 6-2, 6-4 win by Berne in the No. 3 spot. Mercedes Chasset took the No. 4 singles match 6-0, 6-1 and the final point for the Lady Bulldogs was won by Tsuji, who won the No. 6 singles 6-1, 6-2.
Tennessee Wesleyan holds a 10-3 overall record and 8-0 AAC record after the win. Up next for the team is a road trip for a conference match against Montreat College. The match is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
