
No. 1 Seed Women's Tennis Sweep AAC Tournament Opener
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.- The 2025 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Tennis Regular Season Champions played their first game of the conference tournament on Thursday. The women's tennis team, the top seed in the AAC Women's Tennis Championship Tournament, faced the No. 8 seeded Columbia College Koalas, winning the match at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn., by a 4-0 score. Tournament play is a first-to-clinch format, meaning the team to score four points wins the match.
Mercedes Chasset and Ivet Prat, Honoka Tsuji, and Julia Richardet helped the team win the doubles point. The former won the No. 2 doubles 6-0 and the latter won the No. 3 doubles, also with a 6-0 score.
TWU found the remaining three points from wins in the No. 3 singles, No. 4 singles, and No. 5 singles. A 6-0, 6-0 score gave Chasset the No. 3 singles and a 6-1, 6-0 score put Prat over the top in the No. 4 singles. Tsuji joined the previous two with wins, taking the No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-1.
The win moves the Lady Bulldogs (12-3) to the semifinals where they will face No. 4 seed Milligan University. The match is set for Friday at 2:00 p.m.
