Volleyball Falls to CIU

COLUMBIA, S.C- The volleyball team traveled to Columbia, S.C., to play two Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) matches. The first match of the trip was on Friday against the Columbia International University Lady Rams. TWU fell in the match 3-0 to the opponents.

In the first set, TWU started off well, capitalizing on an attack error by CIU to take an early lead. Key players like Amya Sutton and Shante Smith contributed crucial kills, keeping TWU competitive. Sutton, in particular, was a standout, delivering multiple kills throughout the set. Despite CIU's strong push, TWU kept the pressure on but fell in the set 25-17.

The second set was another battle, with TWU gaining early momentum through kills by Olivia Miller and Hunter Ford. Setter Alley Hibdon was pivotal in orchestrating the offense, assisting on numerous kills. TWU kept it close early on, with Sutton and Miller leading the charge, but CIU's consistent attack eventually proved too much, as TWU fell 25-15.

In the third set, TWU continued to show their fighting spirit. They gained early points off CIU errors and again saw strong performances from Sutton and Smith. Jia Weathersby and Janie Merritt also made important contributions at the net, but CIU maintained control throughout, sealing the match 25-15.
