ATHENS, Tenn.- The volleyball team returned to action against Johnson University on Tuesday. The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) match went to a thrilling five sets, but despite coming out strong, TWU narrowly fell to visitors 3-2.
Tennessee Wesleyan had an impressive start, winning the first two sets 25-21 each, showcasing aggressive offense led by key players like Olivia Miller, Shante Smith, and Alley Hibdon. Their effective kills and well-placed serves built a solid momentum, keeping the home crowd engaged.
However, Johnson responded by winning the third set 25-10. They carried this momentum into the fourth set, claiming it 25-19. Despite Tennessee Wesleyan's efforts to rally back, they could not overcome Johnson in the decisive fifth set, which ended 15-11 in favor of Johnson.
Megan Thompson (41 digs), Talynn Wheeler (24 digs), and Alley Hibdon (18 kills) all set new career-highs. Olivia Bolin led with 26 assists.
