GAINESVILLE, Ga.- The women's soccer team went on the road to the home of the Brenau University Golden Tigers on Wednesday. Tennessee Wesleyan returned home with an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) win, defeating the Golden Tigers 2-0.
The team scored a goal in each half. Krista Eik Hardardottir, one of only three players in the AAC with double-digit goals on the season, scored the first goal of the game on an Addison Smith assist at the 12:20 mark. Smith is currently second in the AAC with seven assists. Laia Roch Font had six saves in the first half to help the Lady Bulldogs maintain their 1-0 lead at the halftime break.
The second goal for the Lady Bulldogs hit the net in the 58th minute. Alexandra Machado turned a Hardardottir pass into a goal, giving the team their 2-0 advantage. Roch Font had four more saves to help keep the goose egg on the scoreboard.
Tennessee Wesleyan (5-1-2, 5-0-2 AAC) will be back at the TWU Athletic Complex on Saturday to host Columbia International University. The game is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
