ATHENS, Tenn.- A matchup of two of the top teams in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) standings took place on Wednesday when the women's soccer team hosted the Reinhardt University Lady Eagles. A closely contested game ended with the Lady Bulldogs winning 1-0.
Through the first 45 minutes of play, neither team scored. The two teams combined for 13 shots in the scoreless first half but Laia Roch Font and the defense was able to keep the opponents out of the net.
The defensive theme continued into the second half. With the clock winding down to make the game look like it could end in a tie, a goal popped in the 85th minute. Krista Eik Hardardottir scored the goal off a free kick, giving the team the one-goal win to keep their unblemished record in AAC play.
The win moved the team's record to 10-1-2 overall and 10-0-1 in the AAC.
